Ever wonder what the real difference is between a three star hotel, and a four star hotel? When traveling with my husband and 3 kids, we almost always stay at 3 star hotels and an occasional 2.5 star hotel. Recently, we decided to upgrade our usual hotel stay from a 3 star to a 4 star hotel stay in an attempt to discover what the difference was. Our 4 Star Hotel stay provided us with the following experiences:
Ambiance - When we arrived, the hotel was certainly stunning with marble floors, granite pillars, spectacular lighting, and outstanding architecture. More additional fees - We were told that we could have our vehicle valet parked, or we could park it in the Hotel parking garage, both of which were a minimum $10 additional fee (this was never mentioned on Hotwire when we originally booked the room).
I was surprised though, upon entering our hotel room to find that I had experienced nicer and larger rooms in 3 star hotels. I called the Front Desk staff who quickly took care of the problem.
Swimming Pool - The swimming pool was top notch, and very kid friendly with a ceiling made of glass so the sunlight (or moonlight) could shine on the pool. Four Star Services - This 4 Star hotel provided a very organized folder that provided all the services, from airline phone numbers, baggage pickup services that pickup and check your bags onto your flight, to local baby sitting services and so much more. So much for 4 star services.
When we checked out, we discovered that our $80 room rate from Hotwire had now turned into a $155 hotel stay with 3 star service.
When the dates are not chosen properly, travelers are going to have a very hard time saving money. There are many great online travel sites that offer great vacation deals. When traveling off to New Zealand, be sure to look into travel and leisure best hotels such as Auckland airport hotels and Skycity Hotels Auckland. If there are more than 5 people attending the trip, the hotel as well as the airline is going to offer a great discounted rate. When booking the trip, be sure to take advantage of any and all activities that can be booked at the same time. Take time to look closer into these deals and add them to the trip before checking out.
Do not forget to take advantage of any group deals and rates for travel and leisure best hotels.
