Egypt Tourist Attractions

Egypt is one of the world's oldest civilisations, as well as being one of the oldest tourist attractions. Of course most people who go to Egypt will be going to see the famous pyramids of Giza. The tow must sees in Giza include the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx.

Alexandria is most famous for its lighthouse, for having the largest library in the ancient world, and the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa. The city that has given birth to countless legends, a trip to the city of Alexandria in Egypt is often a dream come true for most of us. Once the seat of a civilization that is today one of the most respected civilizations in the world, Alexandria is today the second largest city of Egypt. An ancient port, Alexandria is in fact often considered to be the city that connects Egypt to the rest of the world. Once an important center of trade, Alexandria is today one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Though much of the city's old grandeur has today reduced with the passage of time, yet almost every part of this historic city has some treasure or the other to share with the people who tour her land. The city which was founded by Alexander the Great during one of his conquests in this part of Egypt was once a capital of not just Egypt but also that of the entire stretch of land between Greece and Egypt. With the era of technology ushering into the city of Alexandria as with the rest of the world, this erstwhile capital city of Egypt is today known as much for her shopping complexes as she is known for her historical landmarks. Today, Alexandria is also the site where the modern tourist can try out some of the popular sporting activities relating to the sea. Most tourist attractions in Egypt are found on various historical sites such as the temples and pyramids. The country was the land of the Pharaohs and the Valley of the Kings where the great rulers were preserved is still a tourist destination. The various pyramids in Giza were built by the ancient civilization as tombs or great monuments for the great Kings and nobles. The Great Pyramid of Khufu which is said to be the only remainder of the seven ancient wonders of the world is the oldest and largest pyramid in this country. The four Oases (Bahanya, Farafla, Dakla, and Khalga) in the Western part of Egypt are another famous tourist attraction. Cairo has both ancient and modern tourist attractions. Coptic Cairo is the oldest part in the city and was once the stronghold of Babylon. The Red Sea which is also referred to as Red Sea Riviera is an attractive sight to every tourist. Interesting places to visit here include El Gouna, Safaga and Hurghada. The Egyptian Museum of Antiques is another tourist destination.
